My Sea Glass Style Earrings Featured in Bead Style Magazine, July 2015
A few months ago I was contacted by Dana Meredith the associate editor of Bead Style magazine. She had seen my sea glass style lampwork earrings in my Etsy store:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/paulbead and wanted to feature me in the July issue of Bead Style.
I was really happy because I felt that the tropical theme of my sea glass style beads would be perfect for the summer issue.
In the interview I was asked about my inspiration for these colorful dangle earrings. I spent a lot of my childhood growing up in the sub-tropical climate of southern Florida. Later, as a photographer I had the opportunity to photograph the natural beauty of the Everglades and the Florida Keys.
Working with a large format view camera, I got a chance to witness the beauty of the area up close and personal.
I saw tree snails that were like watercolor paintings, bromeliads with their frosted greens and salmon colored flowers and a variety of palm trees. I won several photography awards for my photographs taken at Fairchild tropical gardens in Coral Gables, a suburb of Miami and 2 of my pictures are in their permanent collection.
I like to think that my love of of the tropics informs many of the colors used in my glass beads and jewelry.
My Sea Glass beads are easy to use and just by attaching them to jump rings you can make some pretty impressive earrings.
